I am in the process of trying to send some validation letters out to some collection agencies when I came across two collection notices for the same debt. The notices had two different account numbers from the original creditor. What do I do about this? I am completely new to this, so forgive me for sounding ignorant.

Also, I have seen the sample letters, but is there just one thing that a validation letter absolutely must have in it to get the point across?

Is it MBNA? I found that out recently as well. Had an account that came up in underwriting by Fannie Mae...called MBNA to find out how they figured that acct # was mine. I had a charged off acct with them, but that wasnt the acct #. Then they told me they change acct #s when they write off accts. I don't kwow why they do this. Seems more confusing that way.

It is an Associates card which eventually became Citbank. I just thought it was a little odd because RMA was the one who changed the account number.
