Ok, so I thought I would start on my husband's credit files. I took the chicken way out and fired that CCS Financial in utah (credit repair firm) by saying that we couldn't afford to pay. It is true because it's expensive to pay for crappy service. Anyway, as I have said in other treads, this company created another file with TU by slightly misspelling the name. I just pulled the files and now the company has corrected the misspelling but these 2 files have the same scores now with the 2nd files having way more collections than the first. I was going to start the credit repair myself but now I don't know how to proceed because I don't want to mess with the beehive. I am afraid to start disputing things because if I do, then the files may be merged and then I will have 3 times as much work. After reading what people were saying about repair firms, I want to go with www.mycreditfirm.com. They should be able to handle this situation. What do you guys think?
When I started cleaning up my credit last November, I found out that Trans Union had 2 files on me. One was with my middle initial and the other one with my full middle name. The incorrect stuff I disputed and corrected on one file was still on the second file so I have had to redispute again and again with the second file. When they merged both of them though, I noticed that some of my accounts were duplicated. One was a paid chargeoff and another was a 30 days late. When I informed Trans Union of this, they set up yet another investigation. I don't think they completed it though, because within 15 days, both accounts were deleted with their duplicates(no more paid chargeoff) and the other account was updated the next month as never late. Sometimes it's a good thing, like for me
Actually, when I disputed with TransUnion back then, and it was completed, they sent me two files. I was confused because I had two totally different scores. I then called them up and that's when they said that there were two files on me. They said they would merge the two, but instead, they just meshed the two files together without even looking to see if there were any duplicates. That's when I disputed the duplicates and they got removed. Hope that helps! Janet
Now I am scared to call them and tell them. I want to start on this credit stuff for my husband by the end of the week but it will either be with mycreditfirm.com or doing it myself. I feel overwhelmed already because of this 2 files with TU.
