I just looked at my credit report and i saw 2 negatives that were removed but my score didn't change... I don't understand, people kept sayin when negatives get deleted points increase . Can someone tell me what's goin on or what I'm doin wrong.
That's usually the case. What scores are you comparing? Remember, there are a lot of different credit scores, so you need to make sure you're comparing scores that are based on the same data in your credit reports. For example, if you're looking at an Equifax report that has recently had negative marks removed, make sure you're also looking at an Equifax-based FICO score.
It was Experian ... can negatives fall off report then score changes weeks later? Or does score automatically change same time negatives drop?
You can't buy Experian-based FICO scores anymore, so are you just looking at their PLUS score? If so, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's what we like to call a FAKO score...no lender would every use it anyway. So, when something negative falls off your reports, the score should adjust right away. Is there anything else in your credit profile that's possibly changed?
Well my score was 524... then it jumped 44 points to 568... I applied for a cc and recieved it the week my score went off. But my score wouldn't jump that high cuz of a cc right??? Then a week later 2 negatives drop off. Is it possible my score went up becuz my negatives were gonna fall off , doesn't make sense right
No, your credits scores don't improve or get worse in anticipation of changes to your credit reports. They only change when the data changes on your reports. If the new card you received increased your total available credit dramatically, which in turn likely improved your credit utilization, that is what probably had the greatest positive impact on your score. Did you then use the new credit card for a balance transfer or something? If you did, and in turn used a large amount of your available credit all at once, then that could've been what caused the drop a few weeks later as well.
No I just paid the 75 dollar fee n only spent 20 on it this month cuz I hear keeping ur limit under 15% increases ur score each month. So if that cc raised my score, should I get one more??? I have a installment loan n one cc right now. What would b my next step to increase my credit faster
It's definitely good to not use more than about 10-15% of your credit limit. In fact, if you can keep it under 10%, that's ideal for your credit scores. I would wait another few months before getting your next credit card. Keep using your current credit card sparingly and making on-time payments in full. Add a new one to the mix after a few months and do the same with it. Over time, your scores will improve, especially as old negative marks fall off your reports. If you have a close relative or friend that would be willing to add you as an authorized user on one of their cards in good standing, your scores should get a nice boost from that too.
Having a new account can lower your score, at least initially, so the increase for the negatives being removed may have been offset by the decrease for the new account.
