I mensioned in another Privista thread about the following...

Get $20 off when you are referred from an existing Privista user

    PLUS

Existing users get three free months for referring someone who signs up for service.

When PsychDoc mensioned he wasn't aware of this, I realized many of you also may not be. I started a separate thread to make sure everyone saw it. I really appologize for not bringing this to everyone's attention before.

If you need a referral, you may email me you email address to: veverything@yahoo.com

PsychDoc has also offered to be a referer.

** This really makes Privista an awesome deal. $29.99 a year for 52 credit reports and yet another bogus score **

Again, I'm sorry I didn't bring it up sooner!

How close is the Privista score to the real EQ FICO score?

Do you get a score each time you check Privista as well as your report?

Is Privista reasonably accurate or is it dated material? Would you recommend it?

Based on past experience, I now know a lot of untrue gargbage finds its way on to my credit report. I have decided to monitor it more closely. Just don't want to pay $12.95 to EQ too often.

Q1: The score has been pretty close for me. Not sure about other experience

Q2: As I mensioned, the report and score update every monday.

Q3: I use Privista to monitor my report and still pay the $12.95 occasionally to see where I stand. I don't do it nearly as offen as I did before Privista. Pulling the $12.95 report 2 times less in one year almost pays for it, please you get 52 credit reports instead of 2.

    Hope this helps.

Bang for the buck, I still think Privista is worth it. Their score is inflated in my case, actual FICO is ~50 pts lower than their score, but I've only checked my actual score against Privista once since the new system.

I signed up and didn't realize there was a discount if you were referred, still worth 40 bux--I'm more concerned in watching the old info come and go, rather than my week to week scores, so it works great.

    YMMV.

I looked for info on this on the website and could not find it. I went through the application until got to billing info and still no mention of it. Is there a special link for this $20 off offer or do they ask you later in the application process?

No, you will not find the information on their website. You must be referred by an existing member like myself or PhyscDoc. We put your email address in the "tell a friend" section and that is where you get the link that entitles you to $20 off and gives the referer three free months. You cannot just go to the web site and get $20 off. If you want to be refered, just email me your email address to veverything@yahoo.com .

I have sent a letter to Privista concerning the very late updates lately. I also complained that they have done nothing to notify us of their technicial difficulties and when they plan on having them solved. I feel like an ass for recommending them then have this happen. I mensioned this fact as well.

I have BCC'ed copies of this email to the people who used me as a referral.

I recommend everyone flood their customer service with complaints that they don't even have the common courtesy to put a note on their site or send us emails concerning the technical difficulties. Instead we waste our time checking every hour or whatever looking for the update. It would be different if they did notify us. Then fine, I would be patient while they fix their problems. But, they haven't.

    Just my two cents.

Sorry if this question has been answered before. If you pull your credit report thru Privista, do you get a hard inquiry?

Did someone say that Privista isn't available to them because they have a local EQ affiliate? I'm stuck with CSC. I know that I can't dispute online but why does this stop me from getting report and score from Privista?

No, it doesn't. You can't dispute from Privista anyway.

**** RESPONSE FROM PRIVISTA TO MY BITCH LETTER ****

    >> RESPONSE WAS SAME DAY! ONLY 3 1/2 FOR A RESPONSE.

    Dear Jason:

We received your inquiry regarding our weekly update to your credit file. In the past several weeks, Equifax has twice had internal issues relating to the files they uploaded to our system. Because the security, integrity, and accuracy of the information we send is paramount, we have thus delayed updating your credit file.

The easiest way for you to tell when we have uploaded the data to our system is when you receive your email alert. When the alert arrives, you know the system has uploaded your data.

We upload of files on Mondays over 95% of the time. The few times where there has been a delay has been for technical reasons. We have chosen not to send email notices out for a 24 hour delay only because feel that would be redundant communication with our users.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

    Thank You,

    Privista Customer Support
