    HI,

I am new here and I just wondered if it's worth trying to dispute- I probably will as I have nothing to loose.

I have been trying to rebuild my credit = divorce. Anytime there is a divorce it seems your credit gets the shaft.

I just rec'd a new card at Christmas and first of jan. my husband wants to move to his hometown. Leave our home of 5 years. So I pack and go wild. We'd made a lot of trips. Since the card was new I did not think about it- since we were in the process of moving i did not get the bill.

Once moved- about 3 weeks later- found all of the computer and I went online to find them to pay my bill. It did not show late or anything.

so I did pay online and send a check just to get the ball rolling on the balance coming down.

I don't know if the check made them catch it as I explained i did not have a bill- got the information online. Anyway- this month it shows a $24.00 late payment fee.

That is KIND OF HIGH- DON'T YOU THINK?

I have a little letter to send- maybe they will waive it.

Anyone else get charged fee's that high. It's just a dept. store card.

    Thanks,

    - I've already read a lot of posts- sounds like a great place to visit. Someone from About.com credit/debit directed a post this way. I've copied all the letters- i'm working hard on my credit.

A $24 late fee is on the low side. Most card companies are charging $29 to $35.

IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT A REAL RIP-OFF...WHAT ABOUT AN OVER-LIMIT FEE???

In addition to the LATE FEE...you are also subject to BACK-DATED INTEREST...and a "JACKED" interest rate...21%-30%
