Where do I begin. My husband and I filed a BK7 converted to a 13. Only 12 more pymts to go. I Just pulled my 3 credit reports and found numerous errors. - The biggest being my BK, all three reports have different filing dates all of which are wrong. Also, they state no liability and no asset amount. Is this enough to get them removed from the reports? -One creditor, who was included in the BK, has been reporting late payments for the last year and a half. After the BK was filed. Is it illegal to report the pymts as late once the BK is filed and/or after the plan is approved? If so, how do I make them stop and have this corrected on my reports? -For one account, two reports have the account as being paid as planned, the other has the account as being charged off. The report with the charge off is reporting it multiple times, six times in the last 2 yrs. -One student loan account listed as charged off then paid on time? Can this account be removed? Thank you to all the posters here. I have been a lurker for a long time and I have learned a great deal about credit, a little later than I would have liked, but today is the official start of my new credit life. My goal is to buy a house in 9 months, I am planning to pay off the BK early. So, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
dixidriftr, Thanks for the response and for the words of encouragement about finishing the BK. Sometimes, it can be VERY discouraging. I rer-read PsychDoc's Credit Repair Primer and I think I have my game plan: 1. Dispute all old addresses with CRA. 2. Send the problem creditor a letter about the late payment notations instead of the included in BK. 3A. If the addresses are removed then proceed to not mine for the BK and later all the negative TLs. 3B. If the addresses are not removed I will go with the not mine letter for the BK and later all negs ;-). 4. If the not mine doesn't work, I'll go with the incorrect data reporting. Thoughts on this strategy? Thanks in advance.
Are you saying you plan to pay-off the BK early, and purchase a home in 9 months if successfully remove the BK from all 3 bureaus?
No, I am hoping to buy a home in 9 mos with or w/o the BK. I am going for a FHA loan requiring only 3% down. My rent is sky high, so the Trustee should approve. I have been out of work for a while and I anticipate that changing soon. I am also expecting a large lump sum of $$ which will help with the down pymt, etc. I have made a lot of mistakes with my credit in the past and want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Any thoughts on the strategy?
Re: Re: 24 Yr Old w/ Ch13 Please Help! I'm not sure about CH 13 but in CH 7 any large payments such as inheritance, etc. you receive up to 6 months after discharge can be taken by the trustee!!
Re: Re: 24 Yr Old w/ Ch13 Please Help! Thanks for the heads up. I asked my attorney about the money, he said no worries. As far as purchasing a home, if you have made all your payments on time to the trustee, I think it has to be at least one yrs worth, and the trustee approves, you can go through FHA for a loan. Now, a self serving - how about the strategy.
