I am working on my credit situation, and the worst thing I ever did was start with Cap1. We all know the story, started with Cap1, was given $500 CL, refused increase, but "We can give you a new card". The rest is history. I wanted to go to Cap1, and offer to pay the balances to have the items removed, and they not talk to me, only forward me to the CA's (3 different ones). At this point, I have just sent out 3 validation letters (per example found on this site, thank you very much!). But the accounts are still showing on my Credit Report as ChargeOffs, with MULTIPLE 2/3 lates every month. How else should I go about this? Also, I have a lean - status = Released 2/2003 - Verified 11/2003 Any idea how to remove somthing like this? Its killing me!!! Thanks for all the help (including the help I found from early posts!!!) They used 3 different CA's per card or 3 different CA's after you sent A DV to a CA? How long have they been charged off? If the CA's can't validate they are supposed to delete. Look at your state laws as well as the federal law concerning this, and make sure they are not violating any laws. Also read NanaC's notions. You could try to dispute the tax liens as not mine but does not always work. Is the lien federal or state?
Thanks for the reply, the lean is a state lean, and has been and is reported as paid. The CA's are three different companies for 3 different cards. I have just sent out the validations for the CA's, and all three TL's for the cards are CAP1 and are Charge offs. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Brian
You could try to go to the state agency that had the lien, that is paid and ask for a deletion...sometimes it works; or you could try disputing as not mine with the CRA's. Cap 1 and/or its CA's is famous for moving a debt from one CA to another upon receipt of a DV, hold tightly to the Green Cards so you can have proof that you requested DV.
