3 good accounts--but Not mine?

Pulled my EQ report. Shows my address as KS and not FL ....It shows 3 cards that are not mine. A Citi Card, Citi Universal Card, Discover Card. They all three are "Authorized User" cards. These cards are not mine....they are in good standing...2 with balances.

I called EQ and rep said her supervisor would delete the wrong address and this would update within 24 hours. Said to then call back and I would be re-directed to EQ and not CSC EQ --- I guess address correction will cause me to deal with someone else.

My question is does anyone know how easy it will be to get these three cards removed? Will bureau do it or do I need to call the issuers?

My concern is my score has dropped from over 770 to 730 --- these cards reflect balances owed totaling over $8000.

Any had to deal with anything like this? Help/advice appreciated. EXP and TU were fine.

I would just dispute with the CRA as "Not Mine." If they verify (meaning they really didn't check), request the procedure used for verification. Tell them you need to know who they verified with and how.

Do all of this in writing. Hopefully they will just delete it. If not, go to the creditor and get a statement that you are not on these accounts and that the CRA has not contacted them.

Then file your suit in small claims court.

You shouldn't have to do this. They should verify and find out that they aren't yours. But there is a likelihood that this will happen.

Would it be a good or bad idea to contact Citi and Discover to ask them to delete account from report?

I'm not sure about that. Do you have an account number? If so, I guess you could call them and ask if they show you as an authorized user, then tell them it's on your credit report and you would like it deleted.

Perhaps there IS an authorized user with a SSN close to yours, and someone typed the wrong number. Since it's really not yours, I don't see what it could hurt.

All I have for account numbers is the first 12 didgits that shows on EQ report.
I thought I could maybe call CITI and give them my SSN and the Credit card I have with them that is really mine. Perhaps they can look this info up for me with the first 12 didgits I have??? Or at least see that I have only the one card...not three.

They probably can look it up. You just want to make sure that they don't delete YOUR account or put some kind of fraud watch on it.

Remember, if they're good accounts don't touch them, Eq lists accounts that you're authorized to use, as long as they're good accounts keep them on there, it'll help keep your scores higher...

I would be worried that whoever the accounts truly belong to decides to stop paying on them.

I think what happened was someone added an AU and did not include a SSN. And, the AU just happens to have your name. There is probably some person out there wondering why thier AU account is not showing up on thier credit report. Hey, they might even be a member of this forum :) j/k

Just keep watching it, as long as the accounts are still in good standing, keep them, the day you notice that there is one blemish on the account, then dispute it.

a positive tradeline is a positive tradeline.
