Sorry -- don't know why the other is blank......

I want to pull my credit report taking advantage of the 3-in-1 offered by all 3 CRAs. 2 of the CRA's (Transunion and Experian) offer for the scores to be included for free.

    My three questions are:

    1. Is it safe to assume that the scores are FICO or is it possible that this is really misleading and their own private rating?

    2. If anyone has used these, which of the three is preferable - more user friendly?

    3. Would the scores reported by one CRA be the same as the other CRAs?

Thank you SO very much! As a newbie I'm learning so much and truly appreciate the help given here.

I've only used PrivacyGuard, so that's all I can speak to. But the scores are what you see called FAKO here. They aren't the real scores that lenders see. Some people's are higher, some lower. But if you check regularly, at least they're and indication.

The scores will be different at each bureau, just as the information they report will be different. PrivacyGuard shows each line and how it is different on each report. I don't know about any of the others, as I've never used them.

Thank you once again Hedwig! One last question - lol for now - does FAKO vs FICO make a lot of difference? Should I get the credit reports AND the FICO scores?

You're so great to chime in!

I don't know. I haven't gotten my real FICO. I guess if I were getting ready to get a mortgage I might, but I'm just interested in seeing the improvement so I just use FACO. I guess it depends on what you want.

Thanks for the welcome! For this, I need to do some housekeeping on my credit but we're also trying to obtain a mortgage - our VA if possible... unless we can get something better still financing 100% down.

I'd just go with the FAKO for now. When you see that you've cleaned up a lot and you're getting ready for a mortgage, then worry about FICO. But I don't think scores need to be real high for VA. I'm not even sure how important they are.

The FAKO scores are relatively accurate. Mine vary from my FICO by no more than 15 pts. They are at the very least a good indication of the ballpark your scores are in.

SO, If I want FICO only, HOW DO I GET? I see no reason to use FAKO if its only an ESTIMATE of the FICO and the lenders use FICO. Is this correct?

I used Privacy Guard, too, and don't care if they are the perfect FICO scores until I want a mortgage. But I do know they differ greatly, as my mortgage broker said my score was MUCH higher on the same day I pulled my Privacy Guard score. (don't recall off hand what the difference was but I want to say 30 points).

Anyway, to get a true FICO you can go to www.MYFICO.com. All three CRA will likely have a different FICO score.

    I hope this helps.
