I was about to dispute a Chase charge-off as paid and found that on Experian my negative accounts when from 3 to 13. I now have 3 judgments and a 7 charge-offs and along with a few more good tradelines. My heart dropped to my toes. I have no idea what happen. I pulled privacyguard Friday and they weren't there. I just called the subscription so I can't pull it now. Non of the accounts are mine. I never thought it would happen to me. I was about to fill out a mortgage app this week too. What bad timing. Maybe this is a sign that I should not be trying to buy a house. There is another person with my name here in the city. They are getting sued next month by an Apt. complex. I guess it's her. Cross Country had been calling about an account in my name but a different SS number. I'm guessing it's the same person. I am too shocked to be mad right now.
Your in a very good position now to rack up some serious damages against experian. If experian screws up bad enough you could have them buy you a new house. First thing I would do is purchase a new credit report directly from experian so you can see exactly what is wrong. The reason being is that experian may have inserted false personal information associated with the merged file and you may have to dispute it. Privacy guard may be sufficiant, but I've never used them or seen one of the reports so I don't know. I'd start working on my dispute next. Make sure in your dispute that you tell experian that your file has been merged with another party and that any information recieved from the furnishers of information may be unreliable. Also check your personal info. I'd also include a copy of an old credit reports that does not have the merged TL's for reference and a copy of the new credit report with the diffrences highlighted. I hope you have some old reports that do not show the accounts. I hope they get a clue and delete to save you a bunch of headache, but it they don't I'd sue the pants off them.
My file now have another name, SS number, birthday and several different addresses and new inquires added to my report. How long does it usually take to clear it up? I have old reports from Experian from this year. Should I call or right?
Nope, you should send them a dispute Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. You also need to send them complete ID, such as social security card, drivers license, and a recent utility bill. Make sure you highlight the inaccurate personal info on your new credit report. I'd throw in your other charged-off tradelines too as they may decide to delete them without investigating. Just tell them you do not recognize the tradelines and that you think they were part of the merge.
