Hello all I have lurked for about a month and I need to improve my credit scores obviously. Recently I tried to purchase my truck at the end of the lease. I was surprised by a 17% interest rate and proceeded to argue with the poor woman at the bank (this is what prompted me to check my credit report). I know that I have too many inquiries, 2 old 30 day lates (a couple of years ago), 1 new 30 day late (Nov 08), and a young credit history.

My wife took over the bills last year and was doing fine. That is until we left for vacation at the end of Ocotber for Disney World. She paid all the bills but two credit cards and forgot the one (Discover) until the following month. She never told me about this until I pulled my credit report and saw the 30 day late on the Discover account. I told her (she is the primary card holder) to call Discover immediately to find out what we could do about the 30 day late. She was treated rather poorly and told it was against the law for Discover to remove the 30 day late once it has been placed on my credit report.

I have read here that trying to send good faith letters may help, I was wondering what I should put in this letter and what else may persuade them to take it off. The payment history prior to and after Nov 08 had been flawless.

I went to creditreport.com to get my 3 in one report, and after reading here they are not as good as individual reports. Where should I get the report from?

My scores were 650 TU 583 EQFX 618 EXP. I also have a collection dated from August 02 for $28. The collection is from identity theft that was handled by my lawyer years ago. The collection does not show as derogatory on two of my reports, but is there listed as a collection. Should I let the SOL lapse (I am in MI I believe it is 7 years). Or should I send them a letter.

I have a mortgage of 5years which is flawless, and other auto loans and leases that were also flawless. Sorry for being long winded, I hope to hear from my credit repair friends soon.

    Thank You in advance
    Jason

Are you a cosigner on the Discover card or an authorized user?

    dispute

Dispute the card as,I've never been authorized to use this card.

Best is to get removed as an authorized user, then dispute as "not an authorized user."

If you still are, they will verify. If you've been removed, they shouldn't verify.
