On August 5, I faxed a dispute to CSC Credit Services, disputing the DLA on two different accounts. I received a letter dated Aug 22, telling me the results of one of the investigations. Since the 30 days expired yesterday, I called to get the results from the other account. Turns out, they never investigated the other account! They say they have no record of my dispute for that account. Of course, any idiot can deduce that if both accounts were disputed in the same fax, if they received one, then they must've received the other. So I told them the law requires they either investigate or delete within 30 days of receipt. You wouldn't BELIEVE the ignorance of these reps. One told me, "Sir, we don't have to do ANYTHING within 30 days. The creditor has 30 days to complete THEIR investigation." Another said, "We have 30 days from the time we start the investigation." HA! I read her the statute, but it was like reasoning with a sedated chimp. I've left two messages with "supervisors" over the last two days, but haven't received a call-back. Any suggestions? Thanks, gang. Scrivener
I suggest you quit trying to reason with the reps, as that is pointless. You should probably keep this one in writing. You have every right to demand deletion if they did not investigate the item, and it was clearly disputed in your fax. I think I would send a letter stating such, with a copy of the original dispute. I would also place a complaint with the BBB. Of course, anything after that depends on CSC's responses.
