I'm trying to fix my credit and Bell South Mobility did a hard inquiry on me yesterday! I don't know them nor have I signed up for any of their services. I know this is gonna affect my score.

What rights do I have for these unauthorized inquiries? I swear you try to take one step forward and then here comes some ass that pushes you back two steps.

Sorry to sound so angry but I'm sure you understand.

Don't be unhappy -- rather, rejoice. By federal law, an unauthorized inquiry nets you $1000 statutory damages. There are several examples on this board and on others as well (search the Bayhouse.com discussion board for Christine's Wells Fargo $1000 award) who have successfully pressed for such damages. In fact, here is a link picturing Christine's check, lol:

Small claims suits cost less than $100 (in some locales, FAR less than that, for example $20 or so). Just be certain that BellSouth Mobility does not now own one of your previous debts; if they do, that inquiry does in fact fall under what the FCRA terms "permissable purpose" believe it or not.
