These are some general questions I thought of to clear some things up for me. Assume the CA's are 3rd party collectors acting on behalf of the OC. They are NOT reporting any information to the CRA's, rather the tradeline is listed under the OC

1)If I request validation of a debt, does the CA have a responsibility to notify the OC they are collecting for that the debt is disputed?

2)Once notified by the CA, the OC has the duty of placing "account disputed" on my credit files correct?

Yes. Once they recieve your validation, the CA must contact the OC and request the validation information...so in effect, they are notifying the OC that they are collecting on the debt (they should know that) and that the account is disputed.

Sort of....The CA is responsible for contacting any CRA's that they have reported the listing to, that the account is "in dispute". So if the CA has NOT reported the listing to any CRA's...then validation via the CA would NOT get the account marked as "in dispute".
