Finally approved for the Amex Loc!

This board is great, I would have never known to apply or that it was a soft inquiry without this boards help.

I first applied in Nov with about a 677 Credit Expert Score (CE). And I was declined. :(

Tried again in Dec with about a 686 CE score and was declined again. :(

Well my Credit Expert score was up to 708 this morning, so I decided to try again. I have 10 negatives on my account. (8 - of them are 1 time - 60 days late across 8 Sallie Mae Student Loans, of course it was only 1 payment but tell the credit bureau that). I started my credit repair process on Oct. 1st with 19 negatives (all negatives were late payments except for one paid collections account) and a CE score of 647.

Well guess what, the third time was the charm. So George don't give up yet. I was instantly approved with a credit line of $8500 and interest rate of Prime + 3.99%

Congratulations. My CE score is about 663, and I've been declined twice.

Congratulations on the approval! How is an application a soft inquiry??

Congratulations! I too was wondering how an app could be a soft inq.

Do you think they only pull Experian? Or is it possible they pull Equifax? I'll give 'em a stab with my 711 if I think they'll only pull experian...

They always, always pull Experian. If you do a search on the board, there has been quite a few boards members that have applied and no matter what state they are located. They always pull Experian and it is "always" a soft inquiry.

We don't know why it is a soft, but we are not asking questions either. The only time they have done hard inquiries is if you are declined and you ask for a manual reconsideration. Then they will pull a hard inquiry on your report to review again.

So give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly suprised. Here is a link to the application:

    I'll try it now...

    OK I did it...

The screen says: Thank you for successfully completing the account application for Membership B@nking. We are making every effort to complete your enrollment and will notify you as soon as possible of the final status of your application.

I hope that isn't a "you suck" message
