VISA/MC/DISCOVERCARD BUT A FEE??? THAT VIOLATES CREDIT CARD POLICY AND IS ILLEGAL IN MANY STATES!!! I JUST SENT THEM AN E-MAIL TO GIVE THEM A CLUE...
My apt complex uses sub-metering for water. Our billing company started charging $2.50 to use a CC or payonline. I sent them a nice letter citing state law, they ignored me. CC the SAG office, it is no longer on the bills, but they don't accept CC any more .
i think mbna offers this feature free. i usually use my Free (100%) credit union billpay or paypal to pay bills. Only 1 check a month, and thats for housing, since i don't trust them worth a piss. they can charge you a fee to use a credit card. They can just name it something else, not a surcharge. Too many company's have found loopholes or are just plain ignorant. Choose a good lender, don't get GEORGE'D.

If it's just their contract, I don't know that I'd say it's illegal (which implies that a law is broken), but it is definitely a violation of their agreement (contract) with Visa/MasterCard.
