There is only 4 more days till my creditors meeting, and all the abject terror I've managed to quell has raised its ugly head. :( For me this seems to be the worst part of this whole BK crap. Any thoughts from those who have been there and done that?

Just calm down and take it easy. Most of the time the creditors don't even show up. The only ones that will probably show are those that have a secured interest. Such as Sears if you purchased any appliances or a jewelry store, something of that nature. Also any credit card that you made major purchases on 90 days prior to filing, but your attorney should have told you that. Then the only thing that can happen is they request the property back or you reaffirm your credit with them. That's it.

thanks for the reply. I tend to be the anxious sort, and even though my brain says 'chill out it will all be ok' i have this part of me churning out all sorts of awful scenarios.

I know it's hard, but what" rhaeny" said is true. Most of the time the creditrors don't show. But the ones who do will have already made a statement in writing to the court that the court would have forward onto you via your attorney, if you're represented.

Relax a bit. I only blew off 4 unsecured credit cards in my BK so no one showed up.

If your case is like mine, the BK judge will be courteous but he will ask you ?'s about why you are BK and whether you are suing anyone that could result in a cash settlement. The idea being that if a cash settlement is in your future for any reason your BK may be denied.

Relax, debtors prison doesn't exist anymore.

It is so routine you will be astounded. They go through a few questions, and usually creditors are not there. It's almost over!!!

Thanks guys. This makes me feel tons better, and thanks as well for putting up with my nervousness for the last month, esp since I'm a newby. Breeze, King, Doc, hope and everyone else I forgot to mention have been terrific. I'll be glad to put this past me and finish up school and graduate.
