I sat up half the night using the Doc's method to dispute soft inquiries on my and the wife's credit reports. I encountered "service error" after "service error and problem after problem. But I just plugged away at it. All the 46 deleted soft inquiries were over 1 year of age. Anything I disputed that is not yet aged to the 1 year mark is still showing as disputed. We have no hard inquiries as I got rid of them when we first joined Creditexpert. Now some bad news. When I went to check the system today, the 'open' step, in this process is gone. I am not a computer geek but yesterday I had to open and open again again and again to dispute batches of soft inquiries per doc's instructions. Today the system doesn't work for me. In case you are wondering, I tested the method today on an Experian soft inquiry I deliberately ignored last night. I got nowhere. It should be interesting to see what happens to those under 1 year old soft inquiries remaining on our reports that are disputed. Thanks Doc ! P.S. Monday I will telephone 1-888-5-OPTOUT. No more inquiries are in our future for the next few years.
WOW 46???? I guess my question is ... Will it make your score go up any or does only hard inquiries hurt it?? leencaci
The CRA's seem to claim that only hard inquiry's hurt the score. Marie said that TU has 'kind of admitted' that promotional inquiries hurt. I sat up half the night eliminating our soft inquiries because I want to clean our reports and I really don't know if the promos hurt or not. The most important thing we are doing is to OPTOUT. We don't want to see another DMB or Orchard ad in the mail. We don't want strangers looking at our credit when we have plenty of credit now.
As I mentioned on another post, CE is working fine. No trouble. We can access our reports with no interference despite the deletions and disputes.
No Lizard. Neither of our scores went up at all. But 1 thing I would like to add is that when we were getting hard inquiry deletions a couple of months ago through Creditexpert, sometimes it seemed that we got the 2 points per deletion 24 hours later. I am not sure that 24 hours have passed since these 46 soft deletions happened. If any change in score occurs for either of us I will post the info on the board.
Somebody SUGGESTED that it might be good to APPLY for 3 or 4 in a short period of time...NOT spread out over a long period of time...
Me: 3 hards all softs gone Hubby: all hards (-2) and all softs gone Mom: 2 hards all softs gone Friend #1: All softs gone (-2) Friend #2: 7 softs out of 11 gone It hasn't been long enough to check score yet, I also noticed I had a new account report today on CE which was strange. I didn't think they update on weekends??
