They wont tell me what i got, but said my card is en route. I used the Equifax dirty deed (dispute) trick to knock my score from 660 to 705, then applied, btw. Things i did get with the above trick: Amex Business Gold Charge Conseco finance (musiciansfriend.com) PLOC @ 7.5% from my bank Citibank (See below though) BDD still works. I also applied for and got denied: national city (pulled tu, 1 derog) Citibank BDD (Max credit limit for income already, 25K limit already, offer to split limit to new card) Discover (no) Farm Bureau bank (no) First usa (no) Time to lay off for another 6 months..
Dispute anything that might lower your score. balances? New accounts? Derogs? Dispute them all, a common error is that the balances are not correct. I've done this with 3 friends.. All 3 had no derogs, but some balances, and some new accounts, by strategically disputing them, each person gained 40-60 points. One such person went the bank, and got a prime refi and their score indeed reflected the beacon score on creditexpert. Doesn't work for all creditors, specially those that have internal scoring systems, but many people just rely on beacon..
I think that he is referring to putting tradelines in dispute for the purpose of temporarily increasing your score.
sam, What other cards can you apply for with the EQ deal? I have a friend that is going to do it on Monday. He faxed the last set of disputes and is waiting for 5 business days til he tries. Lizardking, It's when you dispute everything on your EQ, and then apply for CC's while they are in dispute. Charlie
I've always wondered if this really worked so I tried it a while back with AMEX. They were like, no no Honey! They could tell from their system that I had stuff on there that was in dispute status! But you seem to have the luck! ;-)
I'll tell you something, though. I was denied 2 months prior for blah blah reasons (score was 665, same items on report, just not in dispute mode). That makes you really wonder. Then again. Target did the same to me. Some places are all about "THE SCORE" and we need to make a list of these creditors, because they will be the best for people "in between" prime (640-680 seems to be "inbetween prime")
