I just received the confirmation letter in the mail confirming these terms. I have been converted from Blue 7.99% Fixed to Blue CASH 6.99% FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought for sure the rep was BS'ing me, but it is true!!! Not that I will be carrying a balance, but still -- makes no sense to move to a cash rewards card and drop in APR by 1%! I'm not arguing though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only reason I hadn't thought to convert to Blue Cash is because I thought Blue Cash carries a higher rate... I'd love to be able to do that! So did you simply call them to say you wanted to convert? What's the procedure?
Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! Yes, that's what I was saying. I didn't call them about switching because I believed I'd be giving up the lower rate.
Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! That's what I thought too when I called...the lowest ADVERTISED rate was 8.99% variable. But, when I called I asked what my new APR would be for Blue Cash IF I converted. The rep placed me on hold for about 2 min to check, and when he came back said that it would be 6.99% fixed, to my amazement!!! I asked him to confirm, which he did but I really didn't believe it until the confirmation letter came in the mail! This was the regular Blue customer service number from the back of the card and I was not transferred to any other department, FYI. It can't hurt to call and ask I would say. Like I said, I asked IF I were to convert, what will you give me, not please convert me...
Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! I got it too!!!! I called, she put me on hold to check, came back I said I'm eligible to receive the Blue Cash card at 0% for the first 6 months, and 6.99% fixed! Woohoo!!!!!!! I should be receiving it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing your info... I wouldn't have known! As you can tell, I'm very pleased
Re: Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! NiceGuy and rackt3, did you guys receive new card or you kept the old one ???
Re: Re: Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! Received a new card one week after next statement closing date, but new card has the same account number, just the "Blue Cash >" logo at the bottom right.
How long did each of you have the card before you converted? I just got the personal Blue with 7.99%, but I'd consider a switch if they'd drop me another %.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! I called and converted while still within my 6 month intro period. I got the regular Blue in 10/03 at 7.9 fixed and then converted to Blue Cash in March at 6.99 fixed.
I doubt you'd have to "wait" as long as I did. I've had the regular blue for over a year, and I just "happened" to read this thread and decided to call. So I'm not sure if there was supposed to be a certain period in between.
I'm calling this week and crossing my fingers for the 6.99% deal. I hate calling the cc people, I'm at 8.99% with them now, so it's worth the shot.
I just converted my Blue rewards to Blue Cash. Took two trys as the first Amex Customer Rep I was routed to (I think a cs rep in India) told me that I could not convert and that I had to apply and than cancel my current account. I know from reading this thread it was possible to convert. So I waited a few mintues and called again and was connected to someone (guessing in the US) who knew exactly what I wanted. Same account number, lower APR and will have the new card in about 2 weeks. I have to admit that the second Amex rep is what Amex customer service should be. Btw, how does this new card with the same account number affect my online payment? Do I do nothing or do I cancel the account number and than start over again? Best regards, Mirage
Mirage, You shouldn't have to do anything with regards to online pmt - I didn't. Everything just remained the same.
Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Official!!! Niceguy, thanks for the info. At the same time I was given the option to upgrade my Green to either Gold or Plat. but the rep pointed out that since my first year is membership fee free I should wait unless I needed the Gold or Plat. for something. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Re: 6.99% FIXED Blue Cash - Officia Nope, the Blue (cash or MR) has no membership fee. Best regards, Mirage
