Hello all, This is my first posting here, but I have enjoyed you guys on here, you give some good info. Here is my story: In Dec 2007 I got a Zales card with $2500 credit limit which translated into an $1800 diamond earings for my wife. They said that I have 6 months of no payment and no interest if I pay it off in 6 months. I also had some jewlery repaired 1 week later for $50 which went on the card as well. That got a 3 month no payment, but I thought that everything I put on the card was a 6 month grace period. Literally, I forgot that I even had a Zales bill, thinking that in June I will just pay it off. That was until April 11th, 2008 when I got a credit alert freom truecredit that Zales reported me 60 days late for not paying 40 dollars in minimum payments. It almost flored me.My Experian was 730 its now 630, transunion was close to 690 and Equifax was 670, but not anymore. I worked so hard over the past 2-3 years to get my numbers up there and now this. This year I got a Gold Business AMEX card , a business Advanta card with 7.9% and a Capital One Business no hassle card with 9.9% and also purchased a Honda minivan with 3.9% financing. I got the cards to finally further build my credit. I will fight this until my nails fall off(not really) but you get the point. Also, I want to buy a house within the next year. Any suggestions from you good people out there? Much appreciated. Joe
Did you sign an installment contract when you bought your wife's bling? Might look there. Next step is see if you can find the original salesperson, and get them on your side. Its so new, I would make my best goodwill effort before ripping nails out.
On this card was it stated that there would be 'No payments, No intrest for the first 6 months' or 'No payments, No intrest for the first six months on the first purchase'. I was bit by one of those at one time. Look at the fine print on the agreement. If it says 'No payments, No interest' PERIOD you can contact the billing department and let them know they made a mistake. They will probably remove it.
