Today I checked EX and my FAKO score was 600. For me that is a big deal, I have finally broken out of the 500s on one report. Althought the score is not real, I still feel good, especially since I started out in the 490s. Thanks board

Congrats. It is a big step. I remember how thrilled I was to finally hit the 600's. Keep it up. You'll get that Amex soon. BTW, experian claims that the score you get is the score creditors get. I think someone recently posted a quote from the creditexpert site saying something to that effect.

Since EX is quickly becoming my best report I have kept track of who pulls EX in my area. I know I am not ready to apply for anything but the list stands at:

GM card (yes I want it)
MBNA (not really attracted to it)
ISUZU (could care less, want a chevy surburban, they pull TU)
Progressive (whatever, GEICO gives me better rates)
    Discover (yes I want it)

So if anyone knows how high I need to be to start pondering these things let me know. I have to first get rid of the judgement. Once that is done, I will be down to 2 charge offs 99/00 and 6 student loan defaults. Think anything can happen with this scenario?

You never know who will approve what. My best suggestion would be get the judgment and chargeoffs out of there, then apply for something.

Will do only problem is the charge-offs are FCNB and Providian. Providian I think will reason with me, but FCNB, you can think of what the "F" in their name means.

Way to go Banger! I know the feeling and it's a good one. Congrats!

Side note: I'm fairly certain GM/Household pulls Equifax-especially if you apply online. Spoke with a Household customer rep and she said they pull EQ for Best Buy or any other Household card applied for online.

    CMA,

My "test" application online declined due to experian reasons? My test applicant will wait for the letter and let us know. Also My test applicant has been updating Millcbs, also.

Watch out for Discover. I applied on-line because in my area, Experian is pulled (per millcbs) but they pulled Equifax and only Equifax. I was quite dismayed because my Experian is 95% clean and I have a 630 :-(. I wish they had pulled Ex and not Eq because Eq is still kind of dirty (working hard on that lol) and I was denied. Let us know what happens for you.

I wouldn't even attempt to apply for discover unless I had a score of at least 660+. The GM card, you might be abel to get by with a 630-635. I think someone just recently said they were approved with a 635.

I do not plan to apply for anything until I am above the 650 range and the judgement is removed. I want my credit scenario to just be student loans. No charge-offs, no collections. just the loans so incase I am denied I can make a better case for myself.

Do you happen to know which report GM pulls?

Almost exclusively Equifax. However, a few people have said they pulled experian.

My test applicant said they denied their application due to reasons listed on their EX report and this was from the online application.
