Hi Guys/Gals, Am I correct in thinking that no one will be able to get any credit card these days without a fico of at least 680? Everything I'm reading seems to point in this direction. If this is the case, then what are those of us in the 640-679 range supposed to do??? Calmest_LA
Hey, I've noticed this too. I guess we can cross our fingers, and try harder to bring our scores up. ;-)
My "LOW" F.I.C.O. 686... DENIED JUNIPER 3 TIMES (YES I'M STUPID) AMEX DELTA GOLD AMEX CASH BACK PLAT GET SMART (9.99%) MBNA (LIMIT INCREASE) CITIBANK (LIMIT INCREASE) 1/2 BDD ONLY WAY!!! AMEX BLUE (LIMIT INCREASE) CITIBANK PLAT SELECT (FORGOT THE # OF TIMES)~~~BDD ONLY WAY!!! SEARS (STORE) FLEET (LIMIT INCREASE) (THEY DID ONE ANYWAY THE NEXT MONTH) YMMV
2 WEEKS FROM LAST FRIDAY...I CLOSE ON RE-FI...I won't pay off the 0.00% ones...but most others up to 5.99% will go... HOPEFULLY my F.I.C.O. may get into the HIGH 700's...low 800's??? (or will I still have the "GEORGE FACTOR" to deal with)??? If most of the cards sit UN-USED...they MAY come BEGGING ME to take some more 0.00% rates???
I think paying off the larger balances is going to help your score GEORGE, but with your credit luck who knows?. Good luck
I got my Cap 1 Gold, Household Gold, Target Visa and Citi Plat. Select all with scores of less than 680. At the time I got these cards, my scores were roughly 660. I got the Amex Gold Delta skymiles with a 686.
He said I would have about 38% EQUITY W/CASH-OUT...(WAS ABOUT 69%) They could still DENY US FOR EXCESSIVE INCOME AND NOT ENOUGH INQUIRES AND EXCESSIVE CREDIT LIMITS ON CREDIT CARDS!!! For all I know they could deny us because we went to school in CA...
Well, don't companies also look at you history as well. I mean, I may have a 660 score that is just littered with derogs or could have no derogs. Do they just look at your score. It truly is an RNG.
Chances are if you have a report "littered" with derogs, your scores will not be 660. They may be 660 with 2-3 derogs.
I usually get a letter with a bunch of reasons listed(charge-off, debt in collections, 90 day late, etc). I'm sure they use my score, but, perhaps there are other red flags they look for as well. People in the 700s get denials because of "too many inquiries" so they have some sort of math going on, some sort of algorithm. That said, We must find this secret algorithm that credit card companies are using and use it to do our evil biddings! Moo hoo ha ha ha!
