I have a new (and only one) derogatory on my Tu as of this month. It is a Sears acct:

    CBUSASEARS
Account No.: 6611**** Type: Charge Account Payment:
Date Opened: 10/01/1996 Balance: $0 Terms:
Date Reported: 03/15/2004 High Balance: $1249 Limit: $1000
Past Due: $0 Condition: Closed (Paid) Responsibility: Individual
    Status: Current
    Remarks: Purchased by another lender

    Two Year Payment History:
    None Reported

Is this past the 7 years. If so, how do I go about getting this off (apparently it was re-inserted).

    Thanks.

Did they send you a letter notifying you of the re-insertion?

    my question too.

Don't see whey it would have to come off after 7 years.

    Sure it's derog. gang.

If nothin else having a limit of $1,000 with a max of $1249 is derog.

How did this affect your score Chipper?

Is it in the derog section?

    ???

    CHipper..

what is the REAL status of the Sears account?

    Is it closed??

    Charged off? etc

And when was the original date of delienquency??

Sears' credit dept was bought by CITI-GROUP. IT IS HIGHLY likely CITI has reported the account "Dates" after they bought it.

If the ORIGINAL DATE OF DELIENQUENCY WAS RE-SET, THAT is re-aging.

Sorry I didn't re-post, I didn't know anyone had replied. This account was charged off in 1997 and purchased by a collection agency. I had both accounts (it was reported 2x) removed over a year ago, and it just showed up again on my TU.

    Two Year Payment History:
    None Reported
    Seven Year Payment History:
    30 Days Late:0 60 Days Late:0 90 Days Late:0

It doesn't even have any payment history...so I can't figure out what it is doing here. It shows as a revolving account.

    Re: Re: 7 year clock

If it was charged off in 1997 ( I have the same issue by the way), then the original date of delinquency (by which the 7 year reporting period starts) was PRIOR to that date. At least 30 days.

So, this account is possibly OBSOLETE to begin with. This is a violation by the reporting agency IF YOU DISPUTE IT AS OBSOLETE AND THEY LEAVE IT.

The underlined parts to me are DISPUTEABLE with the reporting agency.

Citi-Group bought this account as part of a HUGE buyout of Sears' credit department. What I imagine is going to happen, is Citi is going to list all these accounts with WRONG info. The margin for error is huge.

I have filed a class action against Sears for impermissible access, there are approximatelt 6.3 MILLION people who's credit reports were accessed JUST THIS YEAR without a permissible purpose by Sears.

Imagine if Sears sold these accounts to Citi, with the impression that Citi can pull these account holders credit reports ?? Scary :)

    Re: Re: 7 year clock

    Well, here is the outcome:

A nice form letter from TU:

"Non-adverse credit information to be reported for a period of 10 years from the date the account was paid or closed."

I'm afraid if I mess with this 'ghostly' account, they are going to report it as some sort of derog.

    Any thoughts?
