This is probably a question that is asked frequently but I'm new to this. I glanced at a few posts that said credit card debt that has gone to collections and not been addressed for 7 years will not affect credit. I know this won't apply to student loans but does it apply to medical bills?

    Thank you!

Yes, after 7 years, the medical debt will be past your state's SOL, and by law must come off of your credit reports 7 years from the DOFD. However, even after 3 years of being unpaid, the effect on your credit scores will decrease significantly.

7 years is the reporting period for most types of debt, keep in mind it's 7 full years...
