I'll post the details later, but I just had to post I just saw the mythical over 900 score!

    Real score, TU.

I'm going to analyze it and post the method!

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes... ;)

    Well... it's not my score... but a friend's :)

anyway, she's getting an online copy of her credit report for me and I'll post the details.

I think the biggest factor is that she has a good mix of credit, and only $200 in balances on one card and a mortgage, of course.

I've got plans in a bit but I'll post details late tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

You've got to be joking, right :) with a bk showing... no way :) but I have hit mid 700s with it still in the public records section.. and with that score and negotiating...

I have 3 Plat cards, an Amex Green, Membership Banking money market account, Bank of America Advantage Checking with Platinum ATM card, a QT card for gas, and my beloved Target card for bright color in the wallet.

all the rest stay at home and just help ratios. When you look at my wallet, I'm prime and my terms are more prime than my "never-screwed-up-in-my-life" friends. Good enough for me!!!

    By the way,

I had Fair Isaac confirm directly that the last 24 mos is what's in the model, 1 year for inquiries. That explains why I no longer get any derog factors in my score...

just inquiries, balances etc. but no "Derogatory history" factors anymore. even with a bk in my history.

It only hurts when lenders screen for bk.

AMEX green you say? I dont remember you getting that one. Want to share how you did it? :)

Also, will membership banking turn you down with a bk?

PS: sorry if it is somewhere and i missed it...

Well, hey girl, if anybody could figure out how to do it, you could :)

Good to hear about the 24 months. They do keep showing derogs as a reason code for me, although my tax liens were paid off in '96. I did figure out that they really aren't affecting me, though.

Reason codes don't really mean much IMO.

    Breeze,

If your tax liens have no date of last activity then your update date will be used (the date you last disputed them) and if that date is within the last 24 mos then the bureau has reaged the account by the very act of disputing it.

A Fair Isaac rep confirmed directly that in that scenario you will reage a derog account simply by requesting a cra reinvestigation.

If the reason code is there, it's affecting the score nicely. I had an old student loan I thought was no longer affecting but I disputed it and my score dumped. Later I got it removed and the score rebounded 60 points. It made the 700+ a reality.

Would the date you paid the lein in full serve as the DLA?

You know, I don't even know what a lien has on it. Fortunately, I've never had one. Is there a discharge date? satisfied date? I'd guess whatever is the last date on there is the one governing the dla

    Marie,

Two of my reason codes target my negative accounts. I haven't had anything negative listed in the past two years. I have a bk filed in 1992. Info was updated 10/01 (dispute) Also, I have an open account that has old late pays on it (student loan) I don't know the date they are using for them though. The report doesn't show when the lates are - just how many - and what kind (2x60, 3x30). How do I find out what dla they are using for those?

well, the dla should be the date of last activity... last payment, date closed etc

if there's no date listed then the "verified on" will be substituted. I had this problem with Sallie Mae

what reason codes are you getting? those are the keys to what's driving your score

oops - I didn't mean dla - the account is open - I'm still making payments on the loan.

The only report with the late pays is Equifax. The reason codes are 38, 14, 10, 2

The account in question states pays as agreed

    prior payment history
30 days past due 03 times; 60 days past due 02 times; 90 + days past due 00 times

They don't list the dates on the report when the late pays took place . I really don't know when they took place either but the lates are probably over 5 years old.

Other than the bk in 92. I have two medical collections w/ dla of 01/96.

My scores have been inching up every month since I've been paying off my cards. I just figured my low scores are due to balances. So I was surprised that reason code 38 (serious delinquency) was listed b4 reason code 10.

I don't have any negatives reporting on experian - CE score is 663,

The BK is the only negative on TU - their bogus score is 697

Tax liens are reported 7 years from date of payment, but the date of payment is shown on CRA's as "released." I dunno, my EFX score is around 680, but it has beaucoups of inquiries because everyone here pulls Equifax. none in the last 9 months except GEICO's in Dec. for employment. My CE score is 716, no tax liens on there and hardly any inquiries. Not really that big a difference. I am not disputing because I am aware that they will put a new "verified" date on my report, and then it would really affect it.

I have disputed it off and on over the years, always unsuccessfully. Unlike other creditors, I ain't foolin' with the IRS to try make them take it off.

Marie - this should be fascinating. Congrats on the mid 700's score.

Remember my situation. No public record of the BK. 2 BK discharged credit card accounts from 1998. 30 open and closed good accounts. $1,500 in credit card charges due on 60K in available credit and $5,000 left on my auto loan. TU score ranges between 818 and 828.

I am really curious about the 901 score. i will be watching this thread closely.
