I am sure that many of you will not believe this, I am still a little shocked. Providian just refunded to me a $49 credit line increase fee and all the interest that I have paid on the card. SHOCK!!! About a week ago, I sent a PFB letter asking them to lower may APR from 19.8 to at least 16.9 or lower (well anything lower). I have not recieved any messages from them so I just figured that they totally ignored the letter. I still do not know if they have adjusted my APR, but when I went online to check my account, I found that I had several credits on my account. I will keep you posted if I get a APR reduction too. Providian is not known to be a customer friendly company and they are in a bit of money crunch, so it just shocks me that they just gave me back all the profit that they ever made from me. And I never asked for refunds. I just asked for a APR reduction. Maybe the new CEO is trying to make the company more customer friendly? If any others need better terms from Providian, now may be a good time to ask. Trevor
Well I called Providian. They did not adjust the APR. Well they will be staying in the sock drawer, after I spend the credits . At least the card has not cost me anything (after the credits).
Hey who cares what the interest rate is, if they're gonna refund it, LOL. That's zero interest. Just kidding.
Hm, the money crunch may explain why the interest rate on my card is getting jacked up to 29.97%!!! As of February!!! I called for the letter of explaination and am searching for a card to do a BT for of my $900 balance. Those people . . . at least it gave me a good credit line for a few months!
Update: I just got a letter from Providian by UPS Second Day Air. They also granted my APR reduction. The lowered my APR from 19.9 to 16.99. 16.99 is still a little high, but it is a improvement. So maybe I will keep the account a little longer, at least until I can easily get better offers. Trevor
