A Fiasco, An Apology

Yesterday, after a 24 hour no sleep deadline at my job (I work in a publishing company) I was in a strange and frivilous mood.
I logged onto Creditnet as "George2" and posted the following:

"Hello. Newbie here. My wife and I have had perfect credit since 1974 - yet my scores never seem to pass 700. In fact - in the past - when paying down a balance - my score actually went down! Can anyone help??????"

As most eveyone here knows - I like GEORGE a lot - he's an extremely friendly and caring person - he always has a kind word for anyone going through any credit hassles - and - I absolutely LOVE his posts and various bios ("Unless you're George," "sock drawer," "retirement on hold," etc).

At times i have teased George re some of his posts - the quote from the unfortunate George2 post - "my wife and I ... perfect credit..." etc - was part of what i had thought was a good natured ribbing.

However - some other members - and pbm - didn't see it that way - and I was reprimanded.

I now realize that I was out of line by creating a bogus identity for a member - even if my intentions were a feeble stab at humor - it was wrong.

I have already apologized to George (who actually was quite good natured about it as he always is).
I would now like to apologize to any other creditnet member (and to pbm for the hassle) who felt that I was being mean, out of line- or just plain obnoxious. It was certainly not my intention - especially not towards George - who, as i mentioned earlier, i think is a great guy.

i'm grateful to this board for all the support on various credit issues in the past - and - for the most part - I have tried to contribute - with humor - the best way I can.

I will most certainly be more careful in the future not to cross any lines that some folks might take the wrong way.

    Thanks all.

    Yours,

    Mark LA

    Hello Mark,

To put my response in perspective, consider that we have had our fair share of trolls and duplicitous personalities on this board. As such many of us are on high alert, including myself. Keeping the board "clean" is more time consuming than most people realize. Since I cannot monitor all the threads there will be times when I misinterpret a member's intentions.

I trust you can understand my position, and thank you for your apology.

    Sincerely,
    pbm

Me too. That's why I answered with a joke. I thought maybe I was the fool when I read the other replies. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw some humor. I hope I didn't offend George.

When I was in the 7th grade way back in 1973, I decided it would be funny to hell "fire" at the top of my lungs in the middle of a fire drill. Coach Sanders didn't think it was so funny. I had to go around to every classroom in the school, which took about 2 hours, stand in front, and say, "I'm sorry for yelling fire during the fire drill." I was the school meshugginah (Yiddish for boobyfaced knucklehead) that day. Today, I'm still a meshugginah, but that's another story. Mark LA, welcome to my club.

    Doc :)

I doubt it, George has a pretty good sense of humor. Just don't criticise the ALL CAPS. ;)

    Mark, you're alright man..great post!

This is the best thread I have read yet :))
LOL, YEAH MARK, I KNEW SOMEONE WHO DID THAT ONCE, GEORGE WAS MYSTERIOUSLY SILENT THAT DARK WINTER DAY, AND WE NEVER HEARD FROM THAT POSTER AGAIN...NEVER AGAIN.
I wish I had a picture of Doc at 7 standing in front of an entire class apologizing for yelling fire...hmmmmmm.....maybe that's why he understands human nature so well.
