Add HSBC Mortgage to the list of BK-friendly lenders. I closed in August, 3 1/2 years after my Chapter 7 was discharged, on a 30-year FHA loan at 5.375 percent. The only extra requirement because of the BK was a letter explaining why it happened. And the mortgage rep said HSBC would have approved me for a conventional (non-FHA) loan if I had been 4 years past discharge. (I'm not complaining because HSBC's FHA rates were the same as its conventional rates.) I owe a lot to folks like you, which helped me rebuild my credit after bankruptcy and get my scores into the high 600s. Thanks from a happy homeowner. (Now if only I could get a halfway-decent bankcard.)
thanks for the info. I would like to buy a house soon. I was discharged just over 2 years ago. I will look into this.
Do a search here using the term FHA mortgage and you'll find a world of threads from people who've gotten conventional rates from FHA. Look at www.fhalibrary.com for more info.
Nice to hear good things happen to hard hit people. Am waiting to be able to sell and buy again in a couple years.........
