A quick thank you to everyone here, past and present. It was through sharing all your expierence that I just went to the mailbox and found this letter:

    Goofy Collection Agency
    various addresses

    Reference: Account # XXXXXXXXX

    Dear Mr Woops,
We have completed the request necessary to have the above referenced account deleted from your credit report. In our experience it takes 30-45 days for your credit report to reflect the updated information.

    Sincerely,
    Compliance Department

I know most of you have seen these before but this is the first one addressed to me and I'm all excited. Between a settlement I worked out with with an OC on Monday and this deletion today I'm starting to feel like I may not actually be the deadbeat scumbag that the credit world thinks I am.

    Thank you everyone.

This is going to sound sarcastic and I really don't mean it to be.

With all sinceraty, comming from you Mr. Collectman, that means a lot. You were about the last person I expected that from.

Big Congrats Woops! First things first.....celebrate!

Enjoy the accomplishment, for that is what it is! Your work is paying off. The beauty is not in just the better credit report, but how you feel better about yourself!

Check your credit reports in 30 days. If it is not removed, send a dispute thru the CRAs, CRRR. That should force the CA to update the TL as removed, while creating a record at the CRA, as well as a copy of the CRA "investigation report" to you, that the CA removed in response to a FCRA dispute, useful should it get accidentally reinserted.

Thanks everyone. I am pulling daily and it's already off. I have learned to keep very accurate records so I suppose I will put the letter, and a copy of the clean report into the file and tuck it away for the next several years, just in case.

I am so tickled when people learn that they need to keep ALL of their records!! I feel like an ass at times when I see things from as far back as 10 years ago, but it makes me feel better that I have it all on hand.

Good job, I remember that feeling!! :)
