So back in August I had a check go through my checking account. Considering I do not write any checks, I found this a little odd. I pulled a copy of the check from my credit union's website, and it's from Mazumah, Inc. I had absolutely no idea who this company is nor have I authorized any deductions from my account. I tried calling them and going to their website, www.mipayments.biz . The website asks for some personal information, and gives nothing about their company. I called the bank did a stop pay on the check. Filed complaints with the Attorney General and the BBB. The AG simply wrote me a letter saying, well we would have only advised you to issue a stop payment, glad you did have a good day. That's it?! Possible bank fraud/check fraud, and thats all you're going to do!? I got a copy of the check from the bank, looked at the back of the check, found what bank they used, called them and started asking lots of questions. The bank has heard from several people, and are looking into it. He suggested I email the company and try to get some resolution there. I heard from the company, they told me it was from some 4 year old account I had with GreenZap, it's like paypal, I used it one time, and never logged in again. I told them to cancel my account and never bill me again and to delete all my information.

September comes and around the same date as August, they hit my account again. I called the bank, issued another stop payment. Filed another complaint with the AG, the BBB had mail returned from the company at all 3 addresses they had. The AG wrote me a letter saying, we'll send them a letter asking for their side. After doing some more research, I've noticed there are at least a hundred or so people that have had this problem with this scam of a company. I saw one of those complaints say something about the FBI and filing a complaint. Well I did that, made copies of everything, checks, emails, went to the credit union had them give me an affidavit of fraud, sent it to my local FBI office, and 2 business days later I got a call from a special agent. He stated there is a huge case against this company, and 3 other associated companies in this whole scheme.

So, if anyone has ever dealt with Green Zap, close your account immediately, and watch your bank account for any fee's from them.

If you've had this same problem with Mazumah debiting your account, make copies of everything, get an affidavit from the bank, send it to your local FBI office so they can build a bigger case.

Thanks for the alert, I'm sure it's an amazing number that just let these drafts go through!

Glad you posted this warning here. Had you posted it on insideARM I am sure the advice would have been simply to "Just pay the bill".

Good greif! Your just now being billed for some 4 yr old acct? Thats insane.

Are you getting this money refunded? I hope so. Because it is out and out fraud. Your bank may refund it as a provisional credit.

BTW were these bank drafts? or through a debit/checkcard? It sounds like a draft but if it happens to be through a debit/checkcard you could cancel the card if you need to.

I encourage everyone I know to watch thier bank statements. Just imagine how many people are out there that this company is getting free money from because they don't check thier statments.

Companies like that one wth low moral standards really piss me off.

Keep us updated, I am interested to hear the outcome.

This isn't a bill. I opened an account 4 years ago with GreenZap, similar to paypal.com. I had bought something online and they didn't accept paypal only GreenZap or mail them a check. I opened the account with GreenZap, paid for this 1 item, and haven't done anything with the account since. Mazumah debited my account fraudulantly without any actual consent from me. The agent from my local FBI office advised me that there are 4 companies linked with Mazumah/GreenZap, and they are investigating them for various charges of fraud/bank fraud, etc.

Oh, and yes I was able to issue stop payments on both the transactions so I'm only out for the stop payment charge.

Contact your bank and see if you can file a statement with them that no more charges from these companies are to be honored. You may not have to pay the stop-payment fee that way.

Also, if you go to your local branch and sit down with someone there and explain the situation, they may remove the stop-payment charges. We had something similar with BoA, and going to the local branch got the charges removed.

Of course, this assumes that you haven't had a lot of stop-payments in the past.

Already filed a statement from the bank for the FBI, the bank is aware the transactions were fraud, I only got stuck with 1 stop payment fee, and they said they would refund it if I closed my account and opened another, to prevent the company from ever having access again. I did not want to go through all that hassle so I just paid the 17.00 for the stop payment.

Hmmm, so I looked at my bank account online the other day, noticed a check for $19.75 went through my account from "Three Inc.", the phone number the bank gave me was for some phone sex crap. I google'd Three Inc and found they may be related somehow with GreenZap. I had to close my account, reopen another one, very time consuming and frustrating. I also send a copy of the check to my contact at my local FBI office. Everyone needs to keep an eye out!
