Hi, I have a charge off still on my report from 1986 from Kay Jewelers. As I made a payment, they tacked on another 7 years, due to come off soon. My question is I want to use their dirty ways to my advantage. I know the statute of limitations was over long ago, and also know they shouldn't have been reporting it so long. However, they have information I need. This was a joint account with my high school sweetheart, who I have been wanting to find for some time (no bad intentions, just drifted apart when I joined the military and got sent overseas to Korea). I'm hoping to get a copy of the original contract which will have the information I need to locate her. If I contact the collection company, who as little as 4 months ago sent me an "offer of settlement" LOL, are they required to, or might they give me a copy of the contract if I request it? Doubtful they'd even still have it, but they do keep contacting me for payment, and pulling inquiries 15 years later, so maybe they do. Any help would be appreciated! This girl was my world for a long time, I've never really gotten over her because of the way it happened (involuntary separation by Uncle Sam) and I'd love to see how she is now, 15 years later, and talk over old times. Due to my brother bumping into her 4 years ago in a mall in our home state, and giving her my WRONG NUMBER accidentally at her request (my number, not a wrong one), the thought that I should have tried harder to locate her then has haunted me ever since, and I think this is my last reasonable option of doing so. Sorry for so long, and thanks for any info. Dan
MP - I never knew that existed Interesting - of course I will pay to run it on myself later. CYA Dogman
RE: A little off topic, but ne MP, Tried it. Came back with an old address for her from YEARS ago. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her exact date of birth, or that would help. Hoping to get her SSN#, and this is the only way to get it, and the only way to find her I'm afraid. Thanks Though! Dan
RE: A little off topic, but ne Killer, She was pretty darn good looking, but her other qualities were what did it for me then, and still has me unable to forget now. If you've been there yourself, you know what I mean! She could be 250 lbs, and still have my knees shaking, and heart pounding! Sure would like to meet up again!
RE: How about this? Thanks again MP, That would probably be my next step, if I'm not ablt to obtain her SSN from this contract from so long ago. If the SSN thing doesn't work out, looks like I may have no other choice if I'm going to satisfy my crushing curiousity! Dan
BTW MP By the way, since you suggested it, about 30 minutes ago, I tried US Search again (it's been about a year since I tried). $60.00 for the full search, but hey, I might get lucky. Thanks again, Dan
RE: BTW MP Dang for $60 bucks they better be able to tell you her time of the month! LOL... Good luck! Getting her SSN is a sure fire way of finding her. You said you were H.S. sweethearts, right? Have you tried: http://www.highschoolalumni.com Maybe she has internet access and posted her info under her year of graduation? Just a thought....
RE: A little off topic, but ne Try vericheck (I don't exactly know their address). They charge $39.00 and all you really need is approx age. They will supply you with a list of people with the same name within her age range. You just have to tell them which one you think is her before they send you all the info on her.
RE: A little off topic, but ne You never know the power of the internet. What school did she graduate from? What branch of the military? Details without giving us her name (if you don't want to).
RE: A little off topic, but ne Thanks for the advice all! Especially you MP. After you mentioned it, I went ahead with the US Search again. Last time was the 20 buck basic search, and really showed nothing but an old address. THIS time however, I opted for the $60.00 "exhaustive search". Found her, and a lot of info on her. Apparently married, just filed B/K, so on and so forth. Now I just need to get up the nerve to make contact! The married thing is somewhat of a bummer, but hey, my intentions were really only contact and find out whatever happened to her. Thanks again, Dan
