I have many questions. I am starting to get my feet wet and need advice. First things first. Getting my reports. I have all 3 phone numbers and addresses. Do they charge for the reports? Should I call them to find out how much? Do I need to send copies of my drivers license and SSCard? Next When my husband and I bought our Truck (yeah with 18% intrest) in February I found something on my report that shocked me. About 4 years ago we were buying our mobile home and had an apartment. When rent was due I couldn't make a full payment. I sent half and wrote a note that he other half would be sent within two weeks. Well we got served eviction papers. We ended up having a court date when we got their we settled with the lawyer. They ended up keeping our 1000 deposit. We we bought the truck I noticed this was on my report. I had no Idea. Can I do anything about it. Or is it too big of a thing to tackle? Thank you. I am off to post my second delima

If you were denied credit recently, you can get a free credit report from the agency they pulled your credit.
I am sure someone else on the board can give advice on validation of your other problems.
    Welcome.

Some states provide one copy per year for free and, as you were told, if you were recently denied, they are free. You might want to go to each website and read their info and see if you qualify for a free copy.

I'm no expert on the eviction entries..will let another answer that one! Good luck to you and welcome!

I am not an expert on evictions, however, an eviction is a judgement against you and if you settled with the lawyer before the hearing and the hearing was cancelled then there should not have been any judgement. You might want to try and dispute it, first "as not mine" and see what happens.

    good luck

1*You mean they couldn't wait 2 weeks for only one half the rent due!
2*This don't sound rite. How were they able to evict and set up a court date all within 2 weeks?
To evect they have to give you 30 days notice.
There is no way they can take legal action to collect or evict when half the rent was paid.
When you pay half a months rent it buys you 15 days rent when you pay the other half 2 weeks larer it pays the balance of the month in infull.
Seems they sued you when you didn't owe them any rent.
3*They can't just decide to keep a deposit: There are landlord tenant laws about this.
Did they obey the law on this?
4*What was on your report the judgment, suit or eviction?
If it was settled before the trial there would be no judgment.

I absolutely, 100 % disagree with your statements. It all depends on where you live. In Arizona, if you are late with rent, you get a demand for payment. If it still isn't paid, the landlord goes to justice court and files a forcible detainer and summons. The court date will be in 2 - 7 days. So, it can be done within 2 weeks.

In Az, if you pay 1/2 the rent, the other half is still due. It doesn't buy you 2 weeks. When they pay 1/2 they are given a 5 day notice. If not paid within the 5 days, they go to court.

LkH I don't disagree with you as we both may be correct.
You for AZ & me for Oh.
Perhaps we both should find out what state the original poster is in!

2*To evect they have to give you 30 days notice.

*Are you saying that the 30 day eviction notice isn't required In Az like it is in OH?

3*They can't just decide to keep a deposit: There are landlord tenant laws about this.
Did they obey the law on this
*Are you telling me that in Az they can just decide to keep the deposit.Aren't there any laws in Az about this?

I live in Maine. It was within those two weeks that we got the notice. It was about 4 years ago so it is hard to remember all the details. I don't remember how soon It was until we went to court. It had to be soon because it was the last month we were living there. If you were a couple days late they would post a notice on your door so i believe we probabaly got that and then within the two weeks we were served papers for a date a week or two later. We went to court that day and didn't want to have the hearing so we lett them keep all of our money so we wouldn't have it. The apartment was in my name and my husbands but it is only on my report. I have gotten my own copy so I am not sure how it describes it as resovlved. i'll keep in touch thank you for the help.
