Acknowledged that the have recently reviewed my Experian profile & determined that they will LOWER my current credit line by $280.00 eff 3/13/02. I have NEVER been more insulted in all of my life,& promptly called to CANCEL this S.O.B. The rep was nice but she wanted to come with the BS of "our credit dept is requesting to know your household income ?". I advised that information was IRRELEVANT to my request,& could she just cancel the damn account. I have not used that card in months,& was trying to keep them with getting some finance charges on a balance(they are just PISSED because they see someone with CITIBANK everywhere on her profile & pissed because they know their ass was a ticking time bomb). So be it...if you sleep with dogs, you'll get fleas. Sister Girl
LMAO, I love how you so eloquently put your story! Good for you, if they're going to pull that kind of crap, tell them to kiss it!
What would they have done if your H/H INCOME was $100,000+ ??? Increase the credit limit $280??? If it was $200,000+ increase it by $560???
Sister, Too funny!! I received a call from them tonight asking if I wanted to buy some flying rewards program thing. I told them if they would up my limit to what my Citibank is I would. She said "well we will up your limit to the amount this program costs to cover expenses". I said unless the program is free and you up my limit $7000 I'm not interested, They are paid off and in the sock drawer with my household card.
George....I haven't a clue what they are tripping on,but that it their problem(they just sealed a fate that has been on my mind for a while...doing me a favor). KHM....what can I say ?....I never should have EVEN applied for this darn card(it has been a BLEMISH to be associated with these clowns). Dang...came home with 3,000 from the casino yesterday(guess who's laughing now writing out the check to pay account balance in full ? Sister Girl
Providian is not the best of cards. Screw them unless you have messsed your credit credit up so badly that you need them. They gave me a chance when I had totally messed my credit up. So I will get rid of them in a few years when they are of no use to me. But Sistergirl, you are so emotional. Almost unstable. I went back and looked at your prior posts here. You have attacked people here. Attacked the credit card companies etc. Did you do something to further mess up your credit and warrant the reduction in limit? John Galt had mentioned ethics in his threads here. Are you telling us the whole story here? I hope no one drops Providian as the result of this info of yours unless they check your other posts here. Honey, you seem to be off the wall. Why didn't you just tell Providian your income and straighten things out. That is what I would have done. I don't like providian either but my credit is messed up so I keep the card.
King....you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but it don't mean JACK to me. I know what my credit profile is & I don't have to prove any income to some worthless sack of shit company. YOU may need to depend on them, but "I" certainly do not. I will continue to voice my opinion whenever I want to & you may certainly REFRAIN from any interaction with me. Sister Girl
I don't think she is off the wall one bit, quite frankly I think you are quite rude. Emotional, give me break. She was pissed and righty so, most people would have done the same thing. I think your post was way out of line.
I don't think she is off the wall either. Sister Girl, you've been on the board for over a year (I think) and I've seen you post many congratulatory messages to people when they post good news. I don't see anything "unstable" about that. I wouldn't have given them my income either. They don't need to know, and I doubt disclosing your income would have made them reverse their decision. Obviously, nothing major happened with your credit, otherwise they would have decreased the limit more than 280.00. The card served it's purpose and now you've moved on to bigger and better.
I couldn't help it. I busted out laughing and now I'm getting strange looks throughout the office. SisterGirl, you didn't need those quacks anyway. Onward to bigger and better things. Dani
I don't think it is unreasonable for a company extending credit to ask for someone's income. Maybe I'm two fries short of a happy meal, but if *I* were going to basically loan someone money, I would want to know they have some ability to repay it. I have never had any issues with Providian, although I am going to ask them to lower my interest rates. If they don't, I'll probably "sock drawer" their cards, but they have given me generous cl's and regular increases so I have no complaints. L
I agree that the information is irrelevant. They do not get salary info from the credit bureaus and if the lowering of the CL is a result of the report they pulled, so they say, then they need to say the real reason for the decrease instead of requesting stupid information. Also, who says that if you make more money you have a greater ability to pay your bills? There are many people with a household income of over 100K who are in debt over their heads whereas as those who earn way less than that have more disposable income because they budget better. Many go by the rule of the more you make, the more you spend. I hope i'm not going off on a tangent but if your credit report says you can handle your bills and you already have the card, then it shouldn't be a problem.
I agree that any credit grantor has the right to change the credit limit, but it was pointless to request that information when I stated that I'm calling to CANCEL the account(the damage was already done). Perhaps, they are concerned that everyone else is increasing my lines of credit & they are NOT. Sister Girl
