Since my BK 7 was discharged in 1998, Associates Bank has done A/R every month or so. They were included in the BK. Can they still do A/R. I had accounts with them before the one included in BK that were paid in full as agreed. I just wondered why they keep doing this. Thanks, Kim
I am going through the exact same thing right now. When I recently checked my reports, I discovered three major creditors have done A/R inquires on me. They had no permissible purpose to do so. I have submitted my demand for their explanation. I did not apply for credit. They obviously were not going to be sending me a credit card offer. I did not apply for employment with them. I was not conducting business with them on the dates they pulled my report. Creditors can be held responsible for this illegal obtaining of our reports post Chap. 7.
I was thinking they weren't allowed to do it since I no longer have any business with them. Wouldn't this be an easy way to make a couple grand? Does anyone know where to find the law about who can access credit reports?
Do a keyword search for "Permissible Purpose" on Creditnet. BayHouse.com also has some great info. Don't give up on it. You have the law on your side.
