Ohh, ok. Then, it is even better as they are reporting it incorrectly - ALL THE TIME, EVERY MONTH! :)))

    Thanks!

Let's play devil's advocate. Perhaps Sears pulled your credit to consider granting you a credit card? This would seem unlikely since these inquiriies are usually coded as PRM. However, they could use this as a defense in court and claim that the inquiry was just coded wrong. Shake 'em down with a P/P letter. Remember you want them to screw up and admit (in writing) they pulled for the wrong reasons. Citing the FCRA and statutory penalties might put them on the defensive. Better to save some ammo for a follow-up letter.

I appreciate the thoughts and the devil's advocacy, but this is an old thread that was revived for damianlr's question :)

This issue with Sears was settled to our satisfaction :)

So did Sears remove all negitive entries? Did they pay you for the inquiry w/o PP? I am just trying to keep track of what CNers are having success with. Many thanks!

I am curious to know who the Sears scenario played out. I am in the middle of drafting letters to have inquiries removed.

Additionally, how do you locate the address of a company who pulled your report? It is from a TU report and they do not list addresses like Ex.

They did not remove anything from the credit report, I didn't ask for it. The Sears tradeline is due to fall off in April anyway, and despite its settled factor, is DH's oldest tradeline. It contributes age, if nothing else.

I can't go into details about the settlement but I can tell you that they didn't get their money's worth when they peeked at DH's report :)

Call TU and ask them for the address, look on the BBB's website, check PlanetFeedback, all of these are ways to get an address.

I had to do some real digging to get the address and fax number of the legal department, but i just kept digging and digging until I found it.

Many thanks as well!!! I have SEVERAL accounts where the OC pulled a soft inq. long after the account was closed. Didn't know you could pursue these for non-P/P. Waalien--you just made my day!!!
