I got a letter today which read, in part: "At Capitol One, we want to offer you this opportunity that can help you pay off the outstanding balance on your charged-off credit card account. In fact, you could settle this debt today for as little as 50 percent of the balance. Simply call the solutions team at NCO Financial Systems, Inc. Take advantage of settling today. Pay only a portion of your charged-off balance. Don't miss out, as long as you haven't yet made a payment or made other arrangements to repay this debt, you're eligible for this settlement offer." No account balance. No address for NCO. No "deletion for payment" offer. I dealt with NCO's "settlement offer" before, and they wouldn't give me ANYTHING in writing. Besides chucking this in the trash, any other suggestions as to what I should do? I'm NOT calling NCO's "Solutions Team".
Shred it. More likely than not your being duped into paying but Cap.1 or NCO will keep right on reporting as charged-off. If you could get in writing a pay for deletion, that is something different. But as you know, make sure it is in writing and will hold up in court.
Thanks, but I'm not going to be duped into anything. I'm not paying unless they give me something in writing, which I know from experience NCO won't do. I'm guessing I'll go the validation route and see what happens from there. You guys agree?
