Has this ever happened to anyone? It freaked me out...

The other day the phone rings and I pick up to hear an automated offer for the ADT Home Security System.

I then hang up the phone, pick up to dial and the message is still there!

I hung up about 4 times (for 3 secs. each time to allow the phone to reset) and the message was still playing.

My phone did not allow me to get a dial tone until the ADT message was finished.

Have telemarketers gotten smarter or is my phone about to go kablitz???

Sometimes, with incoming calls, if the caller hasn't hung up, it can take a minute or so to reset. I've had this happen with friends that have called and when they hung up they missed and left it off the hook. It took a couple of minutes to get a dial tone.

Their machine is required, by federal law, to disconnect IMMEDIATELY upon you hanging up.

Someone, a while back, was having a medical emergency and could not use their phone because an auto telemarketer called and would not release the line. I believe the person died and the company was sued for millions.

I would call what ever federal agency is repsonsible for that and lodge a complaint.

    I hate telemarketers.
