Things like DTC, REA, EU, CD, etc. that appear next to some inquiries on the EFX report. Does anyone have a list of what these mean? EFX sure doesn't.

Yes, it is like pulling teeth to get them to tell you.

ID - identification confirmation, used for banking, online bill pay, etc - supposed to be soft
CD - consumer disclosure - you checking your own report - supposed to be soft

    Don't know the others.

They never provided a response to EU (asked twice).

REA is an inquiry used by a creditor to see how an account is being reported, not to locate a debtor. Just because it is a soft inquiry does not mean it doesn't violate permissable purpose.

Okay, thanks - still looking to interpret DTC and EU. Anyone?

    DTC = Direct to Consumer

I did a search, and someone said EU is a real estate inquiry. I have one, and it was at the time we were applying for a lease on a home.

Jlynn, thanks. "Direct to Consumer" - what in the world does that mean? Do you happen to know if that's a soft or a hard inq?

I'll be more specific - here's what's on my EFX:

    02/13/2003 DTC-Whatever Bank
    02/13/2003 Whatever Bank

    or

    07/12/2002 Wherever Bank
    06/19/2002 DTC-Wherever Bank

EU is mortgage. It is a soft inq. Any inq listed as just the name of the creditor with nothing in front of it is a hard inq. Any inq that has something before it is a soft. In your example above, DTC is soft. Whatever Bank is a hard.

That's comforting. Thanks. Final question - why would a lender pull a hard and a soft (DTC) inquiry on the same day?

I THINK (not completely positive) that DTC is when you call them and they pull you're report while you are on the phone, that is what I always get when I call anyway.

FK is a skip trace inquiry I believe. RMA Rich would probably be Risk Management's Richmond, VA office.

FK IS A COLLECTION PER EQUIFAX...

MY wife had a FK-CHASE MANHATTEN (we got rid of it finally)<-----any yes MANHATTEN was spelled WRONG!!!

We have had many CHASE accounts on and off for years...
If we ever had a COLLECTION we couldn't ever get a CHASE card!!!
CHASE said they didn't put it there...EQUIFAX said they didn't put it there...

I E-MAILED a copy of what CHASE said and EQUIFAX removed the inquiry with-in 48-72 hours.

THE DOWN SIDE...THEY REMOVED ALL OF HER OLD INQUIRES (ALL SOFT) UP TO 07/02/02...BUMPAGE WAS THEN AFFECTED

Ah, so until its deleted, paid or BKd they can run the inqs to their hearts delight? and I presume these are the worst kinds of inqs?

They can probably run it after it's deleted, too, and that's how re-insertions happen. Or so I fear.

It depends on how they are coded. AR's (Account Reviews) are soft.
