If someone wins a lawsuit against a CA for FDCPA violations, and if the award were sent to their CA association could they be reprimanded of fined? Just wonderin. Charlie
I haven't heard anything about the collection profession policing themselves. I highly doubt anyone would care. L
whyspers, It seems to me that if they have an organization that has to follow Federal law that they would try and enforce some sort of integrety. Just a thought........... Charlie
From the little I learned about them, they like to protect their interests and that means helping the collector members defend against lawsuits. I dunno...I just don't get the feeling that debt collectors are too much concerned over their reputations. They don't do much to refute the opinion many hold that they are basically the scum of the earth (not individually, but as a whole) and will lie, cheat, steal and threaten to collect, whether the debt is accurate or not. But like I said...I don't know...just don't believe it would ever happen. L

Apparently no action by a creditor or collector is either to severe or to long or excessive.
