I have a American Express account showing charged off on my current Equifax credit report with a last activity date of 11-1996. This account was included in a bankrupcy in 1990/91 and has not had any activity since 1990/1991. Whats the best way to have this account disputed/deleted from my credit report?
First off, welcome to the Board. My first question, do you have proof that it was included in the BK? When does your BK fall off? It should have fallen of by now correct. Assuming that both of these are correct, I would dispute the account as included in Bk, filed in 1990/1991. which would make the account with the last activity of 11/1996, NOT YOURS. Dispute the notation as included in BK, if BK has been removed from your reports. Then be prepared to send them proof if necessary. good luck
