I've got two 60 and three 90 day lates on Direct Merchants from july to november 2000(over 2 1/2 years old now). If I can get these cleared, how much of an impact do you think it'll have on my overall credit scores? Will it have a big effect since it's the bad 60 & 90 day stuff, or not really much of an affect at all since it's over 2 years old? I've got two 30 day lates on there as well, but i'm focusing on the really big stuff for now.
It's hard to say, but in general, the older the items the less they impact your score. If you have other 60 or 90 day lates on your report, then removing these will probably not make much of a difference. If these are your only 60 and 90 day lates, then I think it would make a bigger impact. In any case, it's certainly worth trying to get them removed. HTH, Brett
