I had some medical issues and wasn't able to work or make payments and some of my accounts went late/charged off/etc. I'm proud of the ones I kept out of collections and worked hard to keep most of my accounts in good standing. I'm finally working again and making good money and it's time to fix this. I have five accounts showing up as negatives: 1. AMSHER COLLECTION SERVIC for $700 from 2006 - This is from Paypal. I sold an item that a guy had to come pick up. He came and got it, then disputed it and I tried to explain it to Paypal but they ruled in his favor anyway because I didn't have a shipping number... 2. CAP ONE for $500 from 2004 - Old credit card that is still revolving. 3. State of MD for $1500 from 2005 - Right when I got sick and registered for classes that I never attended. Tried to talk to them about it, but nothing happened. 4. SUPERIOR ASSET MANAGEMEN for $300 from 2006 - I signed up for a T-Mobile account with an online third-party retailer for $30/month. When I got the phone and contract the contract amount was $50/month. I never signed the paperwork, called T-Mobile, tried to contact the third party guys who never responded. Sent a DV letter which they never responded to in 2006, filed a dispute with TU today. 5. TARGET for $200 from 2007 - In the process of finally getting over the health stuff, moving, finding a new job, etc. I forgot about this card with a small balance and they sent it promptly to collections. Here's the ideal scenerio... I'd like to reopen accounts 2+5 to be active again and pay them off. I need these cards to rebuild my credit and just paying them off and keeping the baddie on sounds dumb. I can give about $400 to this cause right now, and the limit on 2 was 400, the limit on 5 was 200. Do you think if I go 250/150 they'll go for it? Any ideas on how to proceed? I don't feel that I owe anything to 1+4. Both are pretty messed up scenarios and I should have taken care of them sooner, but I didn't. How do I go about taking these off? I don't think 3 is going to budge on anything. They're the state and I'm worried about garnishment or legal action. I'm willing to pay if off, but it has to be in payments and I want it off my report. Is that too much to ask? I don't know how to approach them because they're not a CA. Also, one of these CAs calls me about 10-15 times a day for the last few months. I've learned to ignore it, but I'm pretty sure they're breaching some sort of law on this one. Can I use that as leverage at all? Should I? Any ideas on that? Thanks guys, I hope with the help of this forum I can rebuild my credit and get on the road to good standing!
