Does anyone know what the acceptable number of inquiries is on a credit report over a two-year span? I've read 10-12. Anyone heard differently?
2 years doesn't matter...as lenders can't see anything past 1 year. Anything over 1 year old - only you can see. As far as how many, it varies by who and what you're applying for. I've been personally told in a denial letter that I had excessive inquiries when I only had 2 - hardly excessive in my book. I've also read where people get approved with cards and they have 7-8 inqs on their report. It just depends on who you're dealing with.
