I sent a dispute off through the CRRR method and it came back verified. I have disputed this several times and each time, it comes back verified. This item is scheduled for removal on 11/2003. This is a medical collection for Medclr a/k/a/ NCO. I know that I'll have to pay this before I can get a home loan, but I need an alternative plan. Suggestions?
have u tried validating with NCO? if you pay, send settlement letter with offer pay in exchange for deletion
Have you tried contacting the hospital/original creditor to see if you can make your payments through them? That way, if you do, you cut out the CA, and dispute it as paid before it went to collections. A CA cannot collect on an account that's been paid. A CA cannot report it as paid either, because you never paid them.
The collection is actually two collections. One of which the HMO never made any payments of the claim. I contacted the CA a few weeks back because I kept thinking that the debt was a duplicate. But I found out that one of them was actually something that the HMO should have paid the majority of and I would have made the copayment for it.
HMO's (sigh) Hopefully someone will be able to help you out when it comes to insurance and what you can and cannot do to enforce your rights. I guess it would depend on how old the bill is, whether it was every submitted to your insurance, etc. All I can tell you is, if you're willing to pay for their (HMO's) mistake, try to deal with the OC only. Otherwise, you can try the validation route. However, if you're looking to purchase a home, and in a short amount of time at that, you may want to see what can be worked out with the original creditor.
