Has any one dealt with this agency. They are after me about a 1997 tution fee. What should be my course of action ? should I pay ? dispute it ? This is not in my report yet. And I have no negetive in my report. Thanks for helping.
Any debt from 1997 should be off your reports. If it shows up now, it would be due to reaging. FDCPA violation if it happens. But first, what was the debt for? Was or is it legitimate? Did you enroll in a school, and then withdraw, and did you withdraw in time for a partial or total refund? What does the school say? Was there a loan involved? Is this a collection of unpaid tuition, or an unpaid loan that paid for tuition, and if so, was it government guaranteed?
Why is this popping up now, 8 years later? Did they (the school, or this or another CA) try to collect earlier?
It was tution bill which I could not pay at that time. I have no problem paying it now as it was less than $1000. I just do not want it in my report as paid collection. Also It was never in my report. I am just afraid if don't pay and stop it now it will continue forever from one CA to another.
