I recently applied for an FHA loan and was denied because I had " account in dispute" 1. How do I remove this from my report 2. In future disputing with the CRA's how should I word the dispute so this does not happen again. 3. How long does it take to get this off.
If you dispute the account it will report as in dispute, sometimes they take it off and sometimes they don't.God forgive if we ask them to do any work.
If an account is properly disputed with the CA, then disputing it with the CRA should cause it to fall off. A CA can not "verify" a debt to the CRA during the dispute period (assuming you did your DV within the initial 30-day window) as this is considered "further collection activity". If the CA ultimately validates the debt they can always re-insert it with the CRA at a later date, but for now, this will get it removed. And if your loan officer asks why it was removed? Simple: it was an incorrect entry.
