I want to send validation letters to the collections that are listed on my credit report. Here is my question. The acct. numbers listed on the credit report are just partial numbers. I do not have actual collecton letters from these collection companies. Do I need to wait until I get another collection letter from them before I can send validation letters? Can I just put what part of the acct number I have on the letter? Is that enough?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

If you waited until you got a letter, you might never get erroneous entries removed.

Have you received any dunning letters from them yet? If so, did they include notification of your right to dispute?

Have you disputed thru the CRA?

Make a copy of that credit report page. Black out all unrelated items, leaving the particular tradeline and its details, then send a copy of that.
