Okay, amazing what crops back up when your trying to buy a house, and I could use some help. I'm in KS, and have a judgment against me from 1999 from First Select Corp; the judgment was actually entered on 10/25/99 as default for failing to appear. I don't remember getting anything about it, but the appearance docket shows I appeared 9/11/00 to be examined. That's the last entry on the docket. I called the atty on record, he's no longer with the firm that would have originally filed the claim, so he gave me their number. I called the firm, and they've informed me the case was canceled in their office in March 2003, and that the new owner of the debt is Credigy Receivables. I'm holding off on calling Credigy because I don't want to get anything rolling against me for something that's been given up on. My problem is that I have to get the judgment removed/satisfied before I close on the house, which will be by the end of the month, so I'm at a time disadvantage. Since First Select is no longer the owner of the debt, is the judgment against me still valid? Any and all advice is welcome, and thanks in advance.
