Okay gang I need your help.

A friend had an old phone bill that he received a collection letter on so he sent them a validation request they signed for on June 27th.

Then he gets a letter from the CA dated July 9th stating they have received his request and will suspend collection efforts until the dispute can be validated and they have forwarded the dispute to the phone company an will forward any documentation they receive. (on this letter his street name is spelled wrong but on the collection letters before it was spelled correctly)

So then he just gets a collection letter from a different CA dated August 13th stating the account has been assigned to them for immediate collection. And the street address is spelled wrong just like on the letter from CA #1.

Now this account is NOT on any of his credit reports - yet. Should he send them a validation request or a letter with copies (of first CA letter)?

Also another question - Can a CA put an account on your report if they have never sent you letter or tried to make any contact with you what so ever? How would you handle that one?

    lbrown59,

But are they in violation??? I had Trancontinenetal Adj do me the same way with a telephone bill.

Oh yeah, I sent the validation letter to them and they sent my original letter and original letter back saying that I did not provide enough information to them..so, they were not able to find the account. However, I provided the information directly from the report....What should I do now???
